Web Hosting FMP The Standard Edition of FMP allows to user to host FMP database files on the web. It uses what is known as CDML (Claris Dynamic Markup Language).

While Web hosting is possible with the Standard Edition, it is not recommended for two reasons. First, the Standard Edition has both a software and licensing restriction that limits you to 10 unique IPs over a rolling 12 hour period. If you ever expect more than 10 different people to visit your site in 12 hours, after the first 10 the rest cannot get in. FMP is also very slow and really needs a third party application like Lasso to help the performance.

The licensing restrictions prohibit this too, however. There is a FMP Unlimited version (~$1,000) that does not have the restriction on the IP, but still is slow and needs as a minimum something like Lasso. 4D The 4D web hosting is extremely easy.

Note: Both the 4D Standard Edition and 4D Server can host the database to the Web. For testing purposes both allow user to host a database for up to 2 hours at a time without a Web Hosting license. For unlimited hosting, the 4D Internet Extension license must be purchased (~$1,000).
